LARP Style:

Parlour LARP

Setting:

Caligo Mundi offers LARPs of varying genres; from Teen Superheroes (GenX) to Swashbuckling Pirates (7th Sea), Scheming undead of a dark Melbourne (Vampire) or intrepid explorers of an Alien planet (Colony: Antares).

 

Our games are usually seasonal, running for around 12 months on a monthly basis, but this format may differ, according to the Story Telling team that run them.

Membership has a minimum of 18 years. Our membership currently ranges from 20 - 45.

Attendance/Membership fees:

Membership is mandatory to play our games, but is free. Sessions are $5.00 for venue hire.

Min requirements for new players:

There are no costuming minimums, but costuming is strongly encouraged. Membership involves agreeing to our code of conduct, but first time roleplayers are more than welcome to join.

Special events:

We have an Annual Camp Caligo which occurs in March or April (usually adjacent to the Labour Day Weekend) and is offered at a subsidised rate to our Members. It is a three day event with scheduled games of different genres and involves cabin sleeping and is fully catered.

LARP Style:

Story-line LARP

Setting:

Blackpowder & Bloodlines is a Live-Action Role-Playing experience set in a Renaissance fantasy world, centred around three major ideas: the beauty of struggle, the conflicts of colonialism, and richness of play possibilities.

Min requirements for new players:

Players are expected to bring their own equipment and costuming, and a level of basic role-playing experience is assumed. Blackpowder and Bloodlines is an intense event, and players should familiarise themselves with the game setting and themes beforehand.

LARP Style:

Story-line and Combat LARP

Setting:

A world where Medieval and High Fantasy collide, Gauntlet LARP allows for human, fey folk and beast race characters to engage in battle with sword and spell, in a pre 1600s setting with a generous helping of magic.

Ages 16-60+ Players under 18 years will need a guardian present to play.

Attendance/Membership fees:

Pay per game. Equipment may be hired at additional cost. New player training is included with a player's first game.

Min requirements for new players:

The only requirement is a basic mediaeval costume. Modern clothing should not be worn, or disguised or hidden well under costume pieces. This especially applies to brightly coloured footwear, jeans and logos. Armour is recommended, but in no way required to play. Weapons can be hired for a cost, or borrowed from any spares other players may choose to lend.

LARP Style:

Combat LARP

Setting:

The Hidden Valley is a small region within Swordcraft's Althea, a pre-1600s fantasy world.

Event frequency

Once per fortnight

Age restrictions / Age range:

18+ to play, 16+ with guardian's permission.

Attendance/Membership fees:

First game is free and involves a basic training session, next two are half-priced. Regular game cost is $7 and includes free sword hire if required.

Min requirements for new players:

We ask for a minimum of stage blacks (ie. no big logos and neutral colours/styles). We encourage higher levels of costuming once players have been around for a while. Armour and weapons are not necessary but will generally enhance a player's enjoyment once they become familiar with the game.

We also attend the main Swordcraft group's Quest event, which is a week long camping event held every 6 months with hundreds of players in attendance.

LARP Style:

Battlesport & Combat LARP

Setting:

Swordcraft is Australia's largest Live Action Roleplay and Battle Game. Players fight with reinforced, realistic looking foam rubber weapons and padded arrows. Some of us wear armour, but you don't need any to play. Think of it as paintball/laser tag meets medieval/fantasy battle (with a hint of martial arts, historical re-enactment, LARP and cosplay). Have you ever wanted to fight in a medieval battle, live stories like Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, or Game of Thrones? Then Swordcraft is the place for you! LARP Style:

Story-line LARP (role play focus)

Setting:

Scy'kadia is a high fantasy LARP group that has themes and influences from real world history, folklore, myths, popular fiction and legends.

Restricted to 13+ for combat. Non-combatants under 13 permissible where accompanied by parent/guardian.

First game free. After first game, $35 per annum to cover insurance.

Min requirements for new players:

All weapons must be LARP safe. If you don't have your own weapon yet, that's okay. We can loan you one at the games and point you in the right direction (straight to Of Science and Swords!) when you wish to purchase. We do appreciate an effort with costuming; please don't show up in jeans and a t-shirt. A long sleeved shirt and plain black pants with some boots make a good basic costume.

We have a weekend camp out event which runs for a total of four days, which includes a day and a half of set up and pack down.

LARP Style:

LARP weapon combat training event open to all LARP systems and weapon based martial styles.

Setting:

This is a open structure training event where all LARP participants from any system or martial background are welcome to come down and stretch their legs by engaging in duels and battle games with peers, friends, novices and experienced veterans.

LARP Style:

Combat based and role-play focused LARP

Setting:

Clans of Elgardt is a high fantasy feudal world dominated by city states, dukedoms and other powerful factions who exist under the rule of the 'Dragon Throne'; the one absolute authority over all of Elgardt and to whom which all that wish to wield power must pay allegiance. At least, for now.

 

The Clans of Elgardt (CoE) role play events are held at Sydney Park, Sydney Park Rd, Saint Peters.

You can expect your character to meet other interesting characters from all over Elgardt. You will mix as individuals, discovering the secrets of the land, and the intrigue of its politics and quests for adventure. Someone creating mischief – probably you – fighting other players when they said you smell like a dragonkin whore in a headwind – and battling all manner of monsters.

 

These events are heavily role-played, revolving around quests, PVP and PVE, all meshed into a single experience. If you’re looking for an MMO style, yet also character-focused role-playing event, then come visit Elgardt.

LARP Style:

Combat LARP

Setting:

We run along the lines of the medieval era as well as adding in the fantasy element with different races and magic.

Age limit is 10+. Most of our player base is between 20-30 years old

Insurance for a year $20 (one payment per calendar year)

Weekly normal event payment of $15 including training and weapon hire.

Full weekend events (happens every two months) $35 for the whole weekend.

Min requirements for new players:

For new players the only thing we ask is that they have a plain shirt (no pictures or symbols) and enclosed shoes.

Setting:

Based in the land Vantacor, the king died and thus clans are warring to become the new king. Focus on land battles to gain the most territory. We are pre gun sort of around viking time. Fantasy medieval. Dragons are the creators of the land one Order the other Chaos.

Minimum costuming is just wear plain black clothing without logos after a 2 months period expected to get a more traditional medieval/fantasy kit eg. shirt, pants, tabbard, then armour like i.e, chainmail, bracers and greaves etc.

New players are encouraged to costume in the colour and style of their faction. This doesn't have to be perfect and other players and the organisation can loan new players items or help them find them on a budget. No previous LARP experience is necessary though some knowledge of political games is helpful.

LARP Style:

Adventure Room, Story-line LARP and Parlour LARP

Setting:

The Multiverse Cycle involves seven different settings each set on different worlds: mystical fantasy, steampunk, realistic science fiction, post-apocalyptic low-realism science fiction, Wild West, 1940s-1950s intrigue, and an arcanotechnological mix. Each session is a one-shot and some involve boffer / NERF weapons.

Story-line LARP

Setting:

The southern wilds is a realm of its own, featuring fantasy races and settings based around a small colony on a new frontier studying a mana rift. Medium immersion, medieval fantasy game.

Family friendly- current age range of 8-50 years old. Some age restrictions apply- 16+ for archery etc.

Attendance/Membership fees:

Annual ARC membership fee and session fee of $5 for standard afternoon events, with fees increasing for day and weekend events depending on catering and site fees.

Min requirements for new players:

We ask new players to try a medieval-ish costume, sturdy shoes and a drink bottle with an option if their own larp safe weapon. Colony provides boffers for first 3 sessions otherwise.

LARP Style:

Combat LARP and Story-line LARP

Setting:

Generic high fantasy, with both magic and pre-1600 technology.

Event frequency

Once per week

Age restrictions / Age range:

Minimum age 15. Majority of current players aged 16-35.

Attendance/Membership fees:

First game free. Subsequent games usually $5. Some special events may cost more. Some loaner gear is available from group members at no cost.

Min requirements for new players:

Clothing - Stage blacks recommended; some costuming is available to borrow. Weapons - 'HBO standard" foam/latex or similar weapons. There is a range of loaner gear available through the club.

Armour - "HBO standard" appearance leather, mail or metal armour. Other materials will be assessed by the equipment desk and an equivalent class assigned.

 

All personal equipment must be checked by local equipment desk before it is used on field - this applies to both weapons and armour.

 

We also run training sessions open to players of all skill levels; for these sessions comfortable exercise clothing is recommended.

 

There is no minimum requirement for skill level to attend, as marshals will brief all new players on safe combat techniques and monitor play to ensure all participants are safe.

 

People of all fitness levels are encouraged to participate, however some self-awareness of your own capabilities, and being able to step out when fatigued, is necessary.

Frontier sci-fi with a post-apocalyptic aesthetic. Realistic psychologies, psionics and soft science laws.

Rule of cool for costuming (certain factions have more specific requirements). Latex weapons (boffers can only be used for shock weapons) and NERF guns. No minimum experience required.

LARP Style:

Combat LARP & Parlour LARP

Setting:

A multi-game setting, with entirely non-combat political games and full combat exploration night games.

 

Sci-fi setting based on seven worlds, each with a unique theme and a single vote in the Coronal Assemblage. A loose federation with a centralized military, with humans, cybernetic or otherwise, and artificial people known as Ersatz.

Combat LARP

Setting:

Warhearts is a medieval fantasy game, set in a world called Bespredel. This is represented by a hex map, which the Empires try to control and battle over. Almost any type of medieval fantasy is allowed.

Once per month

Age restrictions / Age range:

Minimum age is 14

Attendance/Membership fees:

Game cost is $10.

 

All participants must be a member of LARP West, the insurance body for WA Larp, which has an annual membership cost of $20. This also covers players for Dead Zone, Shattered World and some upcoming games. Currently no hire equipment is available.

Min requirements for new players:

Minimum standards are that, at a glance, the character appears to fit into the medieval world. A tabard/gambeson and pants which look passable. All weapons must be approved by the Marshalls, or be of accepted brands.

Typical attendance per event:

41-60 players per event

Combination of Battlesport and Historical Medieval Combat

Setting:

Medieval era, bronze age, Roman and Picts.

Fantasy and sci-fi.

Training safe usage and demonstrations of all hand weaponry

Event frequency

Once per week

Age restrictions / Age range:

16+ to play. Parents with children under 16 can bring them along to spar with, but children can only spar against their parents.

Attendance/Membership fees:

$50 yearly membership, $5 training fee

Min requirements for new players:

Sturdy gloves required. Preferably also a helmet, box and a boffer sword. Loaner gear available for beginners.

Typical attendance per event:

11-20 players per event

Special events:

Crafting days about 4 times a year.

Forging days on popular request.

School demonstrations.

Feasting camps to be announced.
