STORY

In the dangerous tunnels of your homeland the pervasive smell of damp earth never escapes you. Staying alive requires keeping all your senses on high alert, and so while the smell is overly familiar, you never forget its presence.

Your dark elf ears are trained to pick up even the faintest of sounds in the darkness, your hands ready with your weapon should you need to defend yourself from some beast or being.

Such training has made the sun-lovers fear you. With your specially crafted armour, you are able to maneuver in the shadows and strike in complete silence. You are formidable. You are the assassin.

So, when you hear the silvery tongue call out to you in the shadows, “Hello, friend,” you are not so quick to let down your guard. While the other creature approaching you is an old acquaintance, you also heard the crossbow bolt being slid into place--now hidden behind her back.

You carefully shift, showing her that your swords are already in your hands and ready to strike. You flash each other knowing smiles, and there is an illusion of a truce between you, shrouded in suspicion. It would be best not to turn your back on this one.

ABOUT

Epic Armoury’s Stygian Universe is a line of products designed to clothe the enemies of the light. This sleek collection is constructed to appear as deadly and cruel as the necromancers and assassins who have inspired it. You’ll find gothic and high-fantasy products in the Stygian line, featuring sharp edges and intricate layering throughout. Darker colours like dark browns, greys and blacks, have been chosen so characters may become one with the shadows they love.

Stygian armour, clothing, makeup, and weaponry will transform you into a cruel assassin or dangerous warlock . Dark elves are a particular inspiration for these products, with options that will make the Stygian an effective killer.

INSPIRATION

The Stygian Universe is inspired by the tempting power of dark magic, especially rooted in the myths and literature surrounding the dark elf. Originally a Norse mythology written in the Prose Edda in the 13th century, dark elves were called the Dökkálfar or Svartálfar, and were considered dangerous magical beings.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s 20th century writings in The Silmarillion also mention dark elves as the Moriquendi, which were a race of elves who tolerated the darkness placed on the land by the evil Morgoth. More influential, R.A. Salvatore’s The Dark Elf Trilogy and the Dungeons & Dragons universe has shaped the image of dark elves in the high-fantasy genre. These dark elves, referred to as Drow, have set a precedence to the cruel and chaotic creatures we now expect in our games and literature.

The Stygian is based in the shadows and shrouded in secrets. Vicious and diabolical, they do not necessarily belong to the world of dark elves--but of warlocks and necromancers.
