There are stories being told about you amongst the soldiers. You are the mercenary who has slain over a thousand men. You put fear in your enemies with just a glance of your unique Visored Barbuta. Your aura of darkness freezes the hearts of anyone who looks you in the eye. And your favorite? Someone is saying you made a deal with a devil so that you may never die.
You will never tell them which might be true. Instead, as you sit just beyond the campfire and clean the blood from your Visored Barbuta, you simply listen...and smirk.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Visored Barbuta is a gracefully curved full-helmet with a distinctive visor. The visor is movable and can be flipped up over the helmet. Whether up or down, the visor can be locked in place with a pin-and-chain. The visor has two rectangular eye-slits, flat nose and a large Maltese-Cross breathing-hole. Wrought to follow the shape of the head and reinforced with a low crest from forehead to neck, the helmet is elegant while still being comfortable to wear.
The helmet gives full protection to head except at the throat. The Barbuta was used mainly by the flamboyant Italian mercenaries of the renaissance and was favoured with light troops for the mix of protection and excellent visibility. Made to wear with renaissance style clothes, it has a high-fantasy feel that will fit with a lot of characters.
HISTORY
- More accurately resembles a German “sallet” due to the visor
- A “barbuta” was a 15th century Italian design considered to be a specialized form of “sallet” without a visor
- Historical design also influenced Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Marvel Comics X-Men costumes

A great helm, for a knightly fellow
Want to be the knight you always wanted to be, look no further. This helmets amazing with an arming cap, having personally used it. Its amazing, hardy and great. Only draw back is that your field of vision is decreased greatly so be careful out there. Still its an amazing product for those who enjoy wearing steel.
Awesome.
A nice classic style helm. Comfortable. Plenty of room for those who need glasses.
Visions a little restricting but easy to modify.
Highly recommended.
